The trip started with a two-hour drive from the Children’s Joy Foundation USA (CJF-USA) Vanowen office. CJF Volunteers traveled to Bakersfield, CA for another Feeding and Gift Giving implementation.
Bringing joy and hope to people takes another meaning.
Susan Antonio, Officer-in Charge of the CJF USA social program together with the twenty volunteers headed to Bakersfield Homeless Center at 1600 E. Truxtun St., Bakersfield, CA.
The CJF volunteers and the caravan brought food, toys, clothing and lots of fun with them for 120 children as beneficiaries.
The program started as soon as the volunteers arrived at the shelter at exactly 5:00 p.m., feeling excited about meeting the beneficiaries–adorable little children of mixed races who welcomed the volunteers with hugs and kisses, lots of giggling and jumping. They too were so excited for the event.
The program started with a prayer from Daniel Lascano. The children enjoyed the program especially when the volunteers presented a group dance number and the children were asked to join in. Some parents also joined in the fun by dancing with their children.
After the program the children were treated to plenty of sweets like cupcake, ice cream, candies and fruits and then all came to eat dinner. After this they were given gifts which was a noisy affair as the children were really so happy and excited about the gifts they received.CJF USA often links up with other charitable institutions such as the Bakersfield Homeless Center mission which has the mission to provide support and resources to families and individuals in crisis while helping them to attain self-sufficiency.
In the Philippines, CJF-USA has fed millions of children in the country. It has also outreaches in many Asian countries and in parts of Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Latin America and Australia. It has has several shelters strategically located in key cities all over the Philippines and has set-up countless day care centers in the most depressed urban and rural areas in the country.
Knowing that food is a basic need that is often not met in the poorest rural areas in the countryside where children go to school hungry, CJF-USA has also set-up continuous feeding programs in rural schools.
It has also sent thousands of children to primary, secondary and collegiate school. Every school year, the foundation also distributes thousands of school bags, clothes, shoes, notebooks, pens, pads and crayons to the poorest children all over the country.
There’s nothing more fulfilling in this world than to see happy smiling kids full of joy and contentment.
